On March 24th, the youtube channel Warrior Poet Society released a video interviewing Madison Cawthorn. Shortly after the interview started, he makes a remark. Indeed, he notes that:
“The sexual perversion that goes on in Washington […] being kind of a young guy in Washington, where the average age is probably 60 or 70 — [you] look at all these people, a lot of them that I’ve looked up to through my life, I’ve always paid attention to politics. […] Then all of a sudden you get invited — ‘We’re going to have a sexual get-together at one of our homes, you should come.’ […] What did you just ask me to come to? And then you realize they’re asking you to come to an orgy. […] Some of the people leading on the movement to try and remove addiction in our country, and then you watch them do a key bump of cocaine right in front of you. And it’s like, this is wild.”

What happened after the Madison Cawthorn orgy remarks?
What ensued was the Republican party turning on Madison Cawthorn. Senator Thom Tillis endorsed another Republican primary candidate in North Carolina. Indeed, he affirmed that Cawthorn had “fallen well short of the most basic standard western North Carolina expects from their representatives.” He added that:
“I believe Chuck Edwards is the best choice. […] He’ll never embarrass Western North Carolina with a consistent pattern of juvenile behavior, outlandish statements, and untruthfulness.”
Additionally, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy even met with Cawthorn, along with other Republican leadership, in order to discuss his comments. “I lost my trust in him”, affirmed McCarthy.

Then, the leaks happened. On April 22, photos obtained and published by Politico seemed to be showing Madison Cawthorn wearing lingerie at a party. Then, news articles kept popping up of Cawthorn being detained for trying to bring a loaded gun through airport security in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Lastly, the nail in the coffin is probably this: a leaked video of Madison Cawthorn naked, appearing to be humping his cousin’s face. Cawthorn made a statement on Twitter, saying the following about the leaked video:
“Years ago, in this video, I was being crass with a friend, trying to be funny. We were acting foolish, and joking.”
Other leaks occured, like one appearing to show Cawthorn joking with his male staffer. Indeed, they show the male staffer placing his hand on Cawthorn’s crotch, as well as Cawthorn writting suggestive Venmo messages.

Madison Cawthorn leaks: why is this happening?
The North Carolina primary election to elect their member of Congress is May 17th. Indeed, this is less than two weeks after the video leak. Although it’s speculation, it’s easy to see why all these leaks and news stories and being talked about so much now, of all times.
Madison Cawthorn made a comment he shouldn’t have made, and now he’s paying the price. Even his Republican colleagues would now rather see another Republican candidate take his place.
The Republican party often runs on fighting the “degeneracy” that the “left wing” wants to “impose on society”. When keeping this in mind, the leaks make sense.
If you recall, Madison Cawthorn’s orgy comment was to show the “decadence” of modern day politics. To be the outsider that calls out disgusting practices inside DC. However, the leaks aim to discredit him. To portray him as a hypocrite.
